Building on our overall curriculum intent of Understanding How the World Is – we believe learning a modern foreign language helps to provide the children with a link to other cultures. We have selected French at Watermore. By the end of year 6 we want our children to be able to understand and respond to someone speaking basic French using correct intonation and pronunciation. We do this by lessons that have a high level of practical application delivered by a specialist teacher where pupils experience both spoken and written language and are ready for the next stage, which is our top curriculum building block.
